This web site dedicates itself to sharing the immense joys of taste and variety in the preparation of Indian Curries.

Anyone who has come to love Indian curries knows that the word “curry” refers to a blend of spices rather than a single spice, and, in India, many different blends of spices that have been given the name “curry,” primarily by Westerners.  Indian Curries range in taste from hot and tangy to mild and sweet.

In the United States and other Western countries, curry powder and curry sauces are sold as a standard mixture of spices intended to replicate the taste of Indian cuisine.  But what Indian cuisine?  Different regions of the Indian subcontinent each have unique spice mixtures for which they are known.  For example, Punjabi, Sindhi, Andhra, North India, Bengali, Tamil nadu, Gujarati and Rajasthani cuisine, to name a few.

The curries of each region differ in taste, style, and aroma, depending on what foods the spices are cooked with and what local ingredients they use.  The selection of seasonings that constitute the “curry” varies with each dish.  So, curry is not one single flavor!

“Curry” is also a wonderful component of other cuisines, such as Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Thai, and other South and Southeast Asian cuisines.  Each has its own unique preparations and presentations.

This website will focus primarily on Indian Curry Recipes, which we believe to be a bit of heaven on earth.  The curry flavors are not impossible to replicate, and you will probably come closer by combining the specific ingredients given in the recipes than by purchasing and using western curry powder.

We will also present curries recipes from all over the world, in separate categories, that you can visit if you’re interested.  We love the many manifestations of curry, and would sincerely hate to miss a wonderful treat for the senses brought to us in a curry recipe just because it did not originate in India.
